Just recently, Gala has won a Female In Focus award by the British Journal of Photography. The majority of her work is created with women empowerment in mind. Through her work, Gala is voicing social, cultural, and personal challenges most women encounter on a daily basis without being heard or understood.

About Gala Semenova
Gala Semenova is an award-winning self-taught Fine Art Portrait Photographer who lives and works in San Diego, California. She was born in Tula, Russia in 1981 and relocated to the States in 2009. After more than 20 years of working in different photography genres, she found herself falling in love with people’s stories. Her art is the path of healing pain, depression, abuse, suicidal thoughts, and deep-rooted traumas that she has experienced in life.
She recognizes inner beauty and resilience in every human being and reflects it by capturing the true spirit of a person, amplifying and revealing something personal. With each portrait, she aims to reveal the vulnerability inside to allow space for recognition, healing, and empowerment.
